tonight's evens a celebration of the achievements and accomplishments of asian-americans in the state of california and our nation. >> ok'ing. -- ok. i would like to introduce our host for this evening. very well known as the first asian-american mayor in san francisco history. mayor lee championed balancing the budget to keep san francisco safe, solvents, and successful. he reformed city pensions. his focus is on economic development, job creation, and building san francisco's future. a great job, especially for helping out families. we want to keep families here. i also wanted to mention a little bit of his past. he was born in 1952 in the beacon hill neighborhood of seattle, washington. his parents immigrated to the u.s. from china and the 1930's. his father fought in world war ii and worked as a cook. he passed away when the mayor was 15. his mother was a seamstress and a waitress. mayor lee has five siblings, he graduated from college in maine, he also went to uc- berkeley law school and finished in 1978. he and his wife have two daughters. i also want to mention, prior to becoming mayor, one

the last time there was a super bowl in northern california i wasn't quite 4 years old. you have super bowl in palo alto at stanford stadium that the 49ers happen to plan and happen to win. it would be nice to recreate that type of feeling where you bring the entire bay area together. not just for a game but potentially a super bowl parade on market street afterwards, that be nice? we have worked hard for a very long time to build a state-of-the-art stadium. that is not something easy to do. when you look at what this stadium will represent, will it represent the bay area, all of northern california from the sft ware driven stadium that the smart stadium we will where you will have ticket lists, cash lists, great food options that are local organic options. you will have great infrastructure, you will have all the things that make a super bowl an unbelievable experience. i'm happy to see a football team bring a region together for the largest day in sports. more people for one single event will be watching this than just about anything in the world. i'm happy to go to wo

this is the mecca of baseball, san francisco california. i think people forgot this team won 94 games in the regular season in a division that is probably as under rated as any division in sports. beat two excellent teams to win the national league and go on to detroit and unfortunately with detroit with all due respect they didn't know what they were in for. [cheers and applause] you fans, this city, this organization, this team wants all of us, or tries to make all of us better men, better people, better husbands, better friends. larry alluded to it the life lessons watching these guys perform everyday and we have a phrase for it "feeding the beast". this game is a rugged game and like life you need to put a lot into it and they became teammates and competed like nobody has seen. i am humbled to be part of this. i am so happy for all our family and friends and this is why we do this, and you folks will be etched in time and in history as one of the greatest teams not only in san francisco history but in baseball.
